Heads on Sticks

Let the pain suck you dry,
Let it spin you into a world of darkness
To the point where you can't tell if those are your hands touching your face.

Let it consume you and then enthrall you.
Take you down to where no one else has been
And torment you further,
Letting the demons that you never thought you had,
Escape and run free around you.

I want you to sit and watch them,
As they laugh at you,
Walk through you and pick apart your soul.
They will stare into you,
But you just have to hold their gaze,
No matter how hideous or terrifying the things they show you are.

And when you can no longer bear it,
When you are lying there, broken,
Then I'll come to your aid.
I'll lend you my hand,
And tell you that now, you're finally going home.
---------

The journey is rough, and long,
And sometimes you lose your mind.
But you can get through it.
I did.
Just look at my scars.
